Open Engagement 2014

May 17, 2014, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Hibridos Collective is partnering with Green Map System to facilitate a GreenMapLab workshop on community mapping at Open Engagement, an annual free art conference that explores various perspectives on art and social practice. We will be presenting the Jackson Heights DiverCity Mapping Project using the toolkit we created for community mapmaking. Workshop participants will learn about Green Map’s icons, resources and mobile tools; chart sites in the Panorama of NYC with traditional mapmaking tools and new technologies; explore how maps can be used as tools to advocate for social change and share “green ways of being.”
The 2014 Open Engagement conference is co-presented by the Queens Museum of Art and A Blade of Grass. The theme of the conference is life/work. Green Map System supports inclusive participation in sustainable community development worldwide, using mapmaking as its medium.

Hibridos Collective is launching a call for mapmakers to receive a mapmaking toolkit and submit a community map using the mapmaking tools. Request your toolkit TODAY!
